lampwork creation beads my account

Here is my humble studio. A work in progress. All of the glass shown is Italian glass. In the drawer pulled out is just a sample of the frit colors ( ground glass ) I use to add color variation to the beads. In the drawers not pulled out is Pyrex type glass, tubes, more frit, silver, gold, copper leafing, and dichroic rods.

Next is the all important kiln that I use to anneal the glass after it is melted and formed into your bead or sculpture. This strengthens the glass object, makes it strong, helps to reduce cracking, and will even bring out colors not seen before melting the glass.

Below is the oxygen concentrator that supplies oxygen to the torch ( Without oxygen the flame would not get hot enough to melt the glass. )

On the desk there are several tools made of graphite and stainless steel to help shape the glass ( I do not use molds. All my beads and sculptures are manipulated by hand. ) Next on the desk is a hand made arm rest made from copper pipe laying around. I love to recycle found objects. In between the arm rest is the torch. I use a mini cc.

Above is an old exhaust hood I picked up after a remodeling job and rewired it ( When working with glass and metals in the torch exhausting the fumes is very important. )
